What are Immunization Registries?
Immunization registries are confidential, computerized information systems that provide a single source of immunization records for children. Information is entered at birth or at the child's first contact with the health care system.

Franklin County's Immunization Registry Goal: Healthy People 2010

To increase the proportion of children in Franklin County who participate in a fully operational population-based immunization registry to 95 percent of children under age 6 years.

The Benefits of Immunization Registries
Record Consolidation
Combine immunization information from different sources into a single record and provide official immunization records for schools, day care and camp entry requirements.

Reminder/Recall System
Remind families when an immunization is due or has been missed. This function is important in keeping children up-to-date.

Provider Information Source
Keep health care providers informed about new vaccines and changes in the recommended schedule. Help providers determine when immunizations are due and help ensure that children get only the vaccines that they need.

Protection for the Community
Identify children susceptible to vaccine-preventable diseases and promote immunization efforts in their communities. High-risk areas of the community can be identified and action taken to prevent or contain disease outbreaks.
